A Wonderful Saturday

Today was a GREAT day!
Kyle had a swim meet and did AWESOME! This is only his second swim meet ever and his first since moving up to the intermediate level!
We are SO proud of him! (Pics will be in a dedicated post).

Once we got home from the meet, Ronnie mowed the lawn and I went grocery shopping. We had a wonderful meal for dinner...chicken, steamed fresh squash, zucchini, carrots and broccoli, homemade mashed potatoes and salad...picked fresh from Lisa M's garden!

After dinner Ronnie went out front and worked on the new design he has come up with for the front gate.
Kyle decided to go help Daddy...............

This is the little figure that Ronnie welded together for Kyle, lol. Kyle grabbed a handful of random things and Ronnie turned it into a treasure! Kyle LOVES this!
Meanwhile, I headed into the sewing room!
I've been working on the quilt for my upcoming class. I already have 5 people signed up for this class! SO EXCITING!

Patches!
I learned a sewing tip! READY??........................When needing to make a diagonal line (for HST's etc.), instead of drawing the line and then sewing....you can SIMPLY IRON IT! WHOODATHUNKIT!!!! It's GREAT! I've been using this method like crazy for the past few days and it is SO fabulous! I LOVE IT! (And so simple...seriously, why have we not thought of this!??)

ta da!
And here is my Accuquilt Go! cutting my sashing and borders for me! It's wonderful!

So...how was your Saturday? Great, I hope!

Progress Post!! June 13th

**Note: I had to wait to upload my photos, so this post is being posted a few days late***

Well, I am at my Uncle Billy's for the next 9 days, taking care of his babies (aka pets) :o)

So...I will have to pick up where I left off with our Ohio trips once I get back home :) If you'd like a sneak peak at our second trip and my & Lisa's time in Amish country, you can pop over to her blog, as she has already posted some pics!! (You may have to scroll to "older posts" to find them though.

But in the meantime, I have been busy sewing away since I got here!!

I got myself a sewing station, all set up!
Aria's quilt! FINISHED!!
close up of the quilting!
I brought this top so that I could complete the backing.
This is as far as I got with the backing...I need to have Ronnie bring me some fabric from my stash so I  can complete it!
And I sewed these leftover block pieces to start the backing for my tube quilting quilt.
I am going to sew these strips around to make this main part of the backing as large as possible.

And this is the new embroidery block I brought to work on.
I brought plenty of entertainment too! :)
Kyle has enjoyed spending time with Ahma's dog, Little Bit.
And being in the comfy-est chair ever.
The 3 dogs I am dog-sitting. Little Bit, Missy (in the middle) and Penny on the far right.

It's a little sad seeing Ahma's room empty.

Design Wall Monday!

This is the quilt top for the quilt I am making my unborn niece, Aria  Rose. I can't wait for her to make her entrance into the world!

It was my first attempt at a Bargello. I forget the name of this Moda line but I just love it. It's such a mix of classic yet childlike.

this is the border fabric and I am also going to use it for the backing

I am SEW excited! :)

To the right of it in the above photo is the backing I am working on for a scrappy table topper/doll quilt, which I showed you all about in a previous post :)

Here is the entire design wall, which includes a project that Nancy is working on as well.

HAPPY SEWING!

What I Did Yesterday / Process Post

Yesterday I spent around the house..ALLL DAYYY..it was GREAT!
On Sunday we were supposed to have a BBQ but my husband was ill. So I has 8.5 pounds of ground beef thawed out! YIKES!
I decided to go ahead and season them & make them into hamburger patties to freeze.

I made about 35 or 40 patties in all..and I HAD to keep some out for dinner! :)

I listed some homeschool curriculum for sale on the various HS groups. I didn't get to all of it listed, but at least I made a dent in it :)

I sure do miss homeschooling. I am so reluctant to sell my middle school curriculum  in case we end up homeschooling again. I don't know what the future holds, but as of now Kyle absolutely loves public school...and there aren't any issues with it...so....

I guess since I was having a somewhat lazy day...the animals decided they would too. I walked out of the sewing room and this is what I saw as I went along...
Jacob napping
Patches napping...yes that is her BACK leg up by her head, lol.
Linus napping...caught him mid-yawn :)
and Lissie napping!
Just seeing them made me tired!

Next I headed into the sewing room to complete the quilt top that I had listed on my Design Wall Monday post. All I had left to do was add the final border. The border fabric is actually the same as the squares in the centers....
Then I decided to pull this quilt out and FINALLY quilt it. (It's been pinned and hanging in my closet for almost a year now)

BUT...I couldn't find a thread color for the backing that I was happy with...so off to the side it went...again :)

I pulled out these scraps left over from a doll quilt project I made last year...hmmm...
 what to do with them...
 PINWHEELS! (I love pinwheels)

I decided to sew them together into a table topper/doll quilt sized piece.
I looked over and Patches was napping (again) on my daybed. I thought it was so cute that she was laying on top of a quilted quilt, just waiting on the binding...up against a quilt top that is awaiting a border and next to a quilt book. :o) Made me smile!
Here was my thought for the border...
Ta DA! I love it! It's completely UN-uniformed but I love it. I am using the leftover scraps to piece a scrappy backing :)
And as I looked out my sewing room window last night, I saw this beautiful sunset and just had to go outside and take a picture. I love where I live.
