Design Wall Monday ~ June 25th

I have been making quilt blocks for the Star Quilt-along on Crazy Mom Quilts' blog.
Lisa & I cut all the pieces to this quilt back in 2010 and are just now getting around to sewing them.
The problem is that back then my cuts were not accurate and so it is VERY frustrating now to try and sew them. I am MUCH more precise now and cannot stand it if my seams don't line up or points get chopped off...and ALL of that is happening. GRRR. But...I am going to sew them together, trimming the small pieces as best as I can to make it right and then trim all the blocks down to the smallest one when I am done. I am going to use solid sashing, not the "Irish Chain" look that Crazy Mom Quilts used.

I am also still working on that scrappy table topper and my embroidery project.

Look at that! UGH!
The two pics below were taken with my phone, so not the best...but these are the four blocks I've completed so far! :) 8 more to go!

Design Wall Monday!

This is the quilt top for the quilt I am making my unborn niece, Aria  Rose. I can't wait for her to make her entrance into the world!

It was my first attempt at a Bargello. I forget the name of this Moda line but I just love it. It's such a mix of classic yet childlike.

this is the border fabric and I am also going to use it for the backing

I am SEW excited! :)

To the right of it in the above photo is the backing I am working on for a scrappy table topper/doll quilt, which I showed you all about in a previous post :)

Here is the entire design wall, which includes a project that Nancy is working on as well.

HAPPY SEWING!

Design Wall Monday!

Monday, May 14th, 2012
for the record...this quilt is on my design wall upside down....
It should look like this (minus the upside down sewing machine and spray bottle):

This is my scrappy strips quilt. The center squares are all the same fabric (it is varigated).
I added the brown border and only have one border left to go...

this is the fabric I am using to make the final border. It is the same as the squares in the center.

see?

I hope to get these borders cut and sewn on today!

Design Wall Monday-May 7th

Here it is:
this is what I am working with. I picked these up, pre-made, as a way to throw a quick, but cute, quilt together.  Obviously, she was working on a disappearing 9-patch (see center square).

 Here's a close-up.

Here are my questions...do I leave it set up this way and just fill in with 4 blocks where there is white? Here is the extra fabric I have:

Or should I cut the other 4 to make disappearing 9 patch blocks with them as well...sew them all together and then border it with the fish fabric?
Or?? suggestions?

I do think I have enough to make one more 9-patch block like the ones above...maybe I should make that, then sew them all into the disappearing 9patch blocks and sew them all together in a 2x3 pattern-then border with the fish fabric....hmmm...i like that idea. I would love to hear YOUR feedback though!
