Projects in progress

My Mom has asked me to make her a purse....so here it is....just awaiting straps!

I think I am going to use some adorable, thick ribbon for the straps--what do you think?
Here is a HUGE bag I am working on for myself!
Made from some of Debbie Mumm's fantastic fabric.

Here is the fabric I chose for a rag-top fleece quilt. I bought this fabric last October and am only now starting on it.

The green and cream fabric in this pic is the backing fabric:
Nancy is on the last step of her quilt! She is binding it as we speak...here are some pics!

Isn't it great! This is her very first quilt! She did a GREAT job :)

Here is the block I received for the Cafe Mom round robin...this block was made by Squirrell and is an appliqued dresden plate...the center medallion is some fabric her grandmother gave her from the 50's...my job is to add a complimentary border...I think this one has to be three inches each side...any ideas???

Here is the block I made to send out....
Here is my Cherry Spinners quilt! THE TOP IS DONE! :0) (The pics def do not do this quilt top justice...it's hard to see the actual colors in the focus fabric from these pics...

We're breaking Jacob in at a young age...lol...
Here are some pics of our husband's current project...sigh...lol..
Here's my hubby
Here's Nancy's husband, my husband's brother

Jacob, Clouds & Kids

OK...so I had to take some pics of adorable Jacob!

And here are some pics of the dark clouds that rolled through here. These are the first thunderstorm clouds I have seen in Fernley since moving from Florida. It actually thundered! I was SO excited!

And here are the kiddos this morning....they had balloons from the bday party we went to yesterday---they had a brilliant idea to color their balloons with washable crayola markers--you can imagine what their hands looked like!!

Gifts We Made! & Week three block of quilt-along

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for one of Hayleigh's friends, Madison.
She just turned 7 and LOVES baby dolls.
Nancy and Hayleigh made her a bag to carry her babies in and Kyle and I made her two baby doll blankets...here they are!

My cats...

My Hershy went missing about a month ago...and Trouble went missing about a week ago. No sign of them, no nothing-just GONE. We just found out that another cat is missing also. Everyone is saying that there must be a coyote in the area that is snagging them. My heart has been broken over this!
While I am still very hurt over losing my two babies...I do have a slice-or chunk, I should say-of sunshine breaking through.
Yesterday I got a kitten! He reminds me SO much of Trouble in his color and markings. He is VERY social and is not a bit afraid of our other pets! He's very playful and super, super sweet. Here are some pics...

While Hershy and Trouble were mousers...this lil' guy will have to be a strictly indoor cat :(

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday, May 18, 2009
Outside my window... clear blue skies.
I am thinking...that I really wish we were done with school for the day.
I am thankful for... my super yummy hazelnut creamer.
From the learning rooms...we are winding down for the year. Ky has about another week of Math left, a couple more weeks of spelling and handwriting and about a month left of reading and English.
From the kitchen... Muffins for breakfast! Yummy, yummy. Tonight I think we are having chicken breast with white sauce.
I am wearing... shorts and a T shirt.
I am creating... multiple quilts!
I am reading... Love Comes Softly
I am hoping... that I can finish my cherry spinners quilt top today or tomorrow.
I am hearing... the kids running upstairs and the sander in the garage going.
Around the house...things are good! We played musical rooms again and moved the sewing area upstairs. We are now sitting right against the front windows so that the children can play outside while we sew. I really like it!
One of my favorite things...the birds in the morning. They are so pretty and verbal. I love their morning songs.
A few plans for the rest of the week... I want to complete my cherry spinners top, my round robin block, my 12 week quilt along- week 4 block, re-cut my week 3 block for the same quilt along, and I want to work some more on my weed whacker quilt. Nancy is getting ready to baste and bind her quilt and begin working on rag-top quilts for Hayleigh and Cody. The guys now have their truck running and driving....so they are putting the last bit of paint on tomorrow (i think).
Here is picture thought I am sharing...the family I am missing with all of my heart

Cherry Spinners progress

Here is what I got done today....136 of these!

And I have decided my next quilt is going to be "Holy Moly!" from the same book as my Cherry Spinners quilt. Nancy is going to do "Holy Moly with me. I want to do it in polka dots and bugs. I want to use the same bright color scheme as is in the book. It's hard to tell from the pics but it's done in hot pink, neon lime green and black...take a look (click the picture to see it up close):

So...what do you think?
