Process Post! Farmer's Market Quilt

On the Farmer's Market Shop Hop in February, we received a block kit at each of the shops we stopped in at. As I began working with these fabrics, I just HAD TO HAVE MORE!! So I have continued adding to my stash of fruit and veggie prints. I'm using "handspray" as the background fabric b/c that is what came with the kits.
Here is what I have done so far :)
The block in the top left is my Underground Railroad block...but you can see which ones are Farmer's Market...there are 10 so far :)
These are the fabrics that I still have to make blocks for:

 Aren't they SO PRETTY!!!??!
I am going to do a thin border of the purple handspray and then a wider border of these veggies to finish the quilt top.
And see that red and white check fabric in the back left corner?? That is what I am going to use as the background fabric in pinwheel blocks....I am using the scraps from each fruit/veggie and making a pinwheel block to alternate with the fruit and veggie blocks. This quilt is going to be BIG!
Here are my scraps...
I have three fabrics that I am trying to decide between for the backing....
The daisy and strawberry fabric is my fav but I think one of the other two may go better w this quilt...we'll see!

Farmer's Market Shop Hop (part one) and sewing!

The Farmer's Market Shop Hop started on Thursday and is going through this whole week!

Lisa and I made it to four of the seven shops on Friday!

Our first stop! In Orlando
Lisa's niece, Abby went with us :)

I love the simplicity of the quilt on the wall-the top left one.

Frames galore!!

Abby was SO funny with this fuzzy fabric!

She said that she wanted to take it home! LOL. Too cute!

they had lots of half priced kits!

Shop number two!

LOVE this mini quilt

I really enjoyed this shop! I found several things that I had to have here!

Ahem...My niece Aria's first bday is going to be owl themed.....hmm hmm...I may or may not have HAD to buy this pattern!

Abby was so cute reading these books...look at her lil face!

LOVE this!

this fabric with fat cats totally made me think of my Patches and Pippi.

Abby was getting grumpy and tired, lol.

Shop # 3
I did not care for this one at all. And I was seriously unimpressed with what they had to offer
I did see this in the bathroom tho...cute! :)

THIS store was AMAZINGGG! HUGE selection. Super friendly staff!

Lisa had to drive after we got to the first shop b/c I was "making her sick with my braking and punching the gas"...geesh (lol)

That night, after dinner, I went to Lisa's to sew!! Yayy!

I finished my first Christmas present for 2013 (nevermind that it was intended to be given in 2012, lol)
And....I made binding for my "jelly roll race" quilt!

I came home and poured out my purchases...here are some of the pics...
I found another McKenna Ryan for my Sea Breeze quilt...this is only the third one i have found. Also in this pic is a tool for "skinning the quilt". Neither Lisa nor I had ever heard this term but it's for when you need to undo the quilting from the back of a quilt for one reason or another.

Here is an assortment...Some cat wintery fabric, a panel to make some bibs for Macy and Aria, a panel of cheater fabric and a yard of some tan and blue flower fabric that I found on clearance!

I also bought this quilt!!!! I got a steal of a deal on it and happens to be a pattern that I was thinking of making in one of the magazines this year. I LOVE it!

My cute kitties love it too!

Process Post~January 30th, 2013

I committed to finishing this quilt for the January Lovely Year of Finishes and although I have been sick and in bed for this week and down with my back the previous week, I am determined to meet this deadline!
I completed this top tonight!! And pieced the backing too!
Tomorrow I will quilt and bind it!
I also began this applique project from Fons and Porter while stuck in bed:
Except, I am using different fabrics......
And here's a funny for you :)
What projects are you working on? I would love to see your PROCESS, not just your finished product!

The Villages Quilt Show 2013 Part 2!

Here are more pictures from the quilt show!
I love these jewel tones!
So simple. yet looks awesome!
I really loved this quilt. I like the colors.
and the quilting
This quilt has an interesting story behind it.....It was up on the stage in the antique quilts display. I am not sure if you can tell from the pic but it is all cross-stitched and then made into a quilt. This was made by a man. He was an alcoholic and his sister told him he needed to keep his hands busy. She taught him how to cross-stitch and he made this top, then he learned how to quilt and made it into a quilt. Pretty neat, huh?
Here are more of the antique quilts displayed at the show:

Isn't this a neat apron!?!?!
This was also an antique and I heard a woman talking about how it's a very rare piece. It was made as a sampler for a baby and back when this was done people didn't have quilts just for babies or cribs. It's a shame that it is damaged but must really be treasured by someone whose family it was handed down in.
 Back to the show.........
I saw the Stonehenge fabrics used quite a bit this year.

Stack N Whack! Lisa is going to make one if these this year.
I really like these scrappy stars
And I love these colors!

These doily fans have a great story :)
 Here it is:

AHHH! Snails tails made into kitty cats! :)

We met Amy (Lisa's sister) and Abby (Lisa's niece) for lunch at Chik fil A...they came back to the quilt show with us to see all the quilts!
Abby was SO funny! She kept asking if she could touch the quilts! LOL.

I LOVED this Bargello quilt! WOW!!
Abby was enjoying pointing things out on the i-spy quilt!!
this was REALLY pretty!
MY TREES!!!!!!!! I said to Lisa "Oh no! someone made it before me!" and her reply was "Well, yea, it's only been like 2 years since you got the pattern!" LOL. I NEED to do this one this year also!
 Aren't quilt shows SO inspiring!?
I liked this quilt. I would NEVER have been able to do that applique only on one side like that. It looks great and takes the quilt to the next level, IMO....but I would never have thought to do that! So neat!

This quilt made me think of my hubby...not really sure why, probably because it's wilderness type stuff. But I REALLY liked this one a lot too.
This eskimo was my favorite block of the quilt.

The elephant below is really interesting. It is 3 dimensional!
see? How cool is that!?!

stunning

This quilt was also really awesome! It has a story too!
 Here's the story!
And check out the backing! MAPS!!

I really loved this border!
these flowers were 3D also!

I hope you are enjoying all these pics! I should be able to fit the rest into one post! Stay tuned!!
