Reminiscing about Christmas's past 2007

We bought a tree at Lowe's last Friday and by Monday it was a Charlie Brown tree =(
That night NO ONE in Fernley had any trees left! But luckily the next day we found one!!! It's beautiful too!



We are SO loving our new home. I'm really making progress on getting unpacked. I am HATING not being able to sew though. UGH! The third room has all my sewing stuff in it. The problem is that it isn;t a dedicated sewing room (how dare it not be, lol). We have two book cases in there, all the books we own (including all our homeschool curriculum and supplies). It's a tiny room and fabric is taking up every spare inch! The rel jist of the problem is that right now it is the catch all....it's the "hmm not sure where I'll put that at" room. So........I have got to get in there and organize. Bit I'm not letting myself until I get the rest of the house done. Otherwise I know I won;t ever get the rest of the house done! lol. I am in a slump today though..I don;t feel like unpacking ANYTHING. I need to though! It's 4:00 and I have not unpacked a single box.
On a more productive note...Ronnie and I were able to move enough of the ice to get his truck out of the road. We got it into the driveway!
One of our new neighbors came over to introduce themselves today. They are an older couple and seem very nice. The best thing is that their son in law restores cars, so they don't mind Ronnie's projects! And...they are Nascar fans! YAY!

FOR TODAY Monday, December 14, 2009
Outside my window... Blue, sunny skies and snow EVERYWHERE.
I am thinking...that the brownies in the oven are smelling super yummy!
I am thankful for... God being a part of every little teeny tiny detail of my life.
From the learning rooms... picking things back up after the move. We'll do another week or so and then take Christmas break.
From the kitchen... brownies in the oven now, pizza party for the kids at church tonight, then shrimp tomorrow night for dinner!
I am wearing... jeans and a comfy shirt.
I am creating... nothing at the moment. =0( Although I am almost done unpacking my sewing room. I am not allowing myself to play in there until the house is unpacked-otherwise I'll never come out and get done what I need to get done, lol.
I am reading... Just finished the Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber. Next in the series is "A Good Yarn". Started that this morning.
I am hoping... that my renters insurance will cover the damage at the old house.
I am hearing... Christmas music!
Around the house... getting things into their place.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Have to go into Reno tomorrow. Getting things unpacked. Going to see A Christmas Carol, decorating our tree and outside.

Tired

Well, I am pretty darn tired. We have been moving things into our new home these past two days. I love this new little house! It's pretty funny because I can reach any room to vacuum with the vacuum plugged into the outlet in the dining room! (And I use the term dining room loosely, as it is really like a little extension of the kitchen). I was concerned that the more I was in it the more it would feel cramped...but the opposite is true. The more I'm in it the more I'm loving it...It's charming...I think we just may stay there forever...well....until we build on the property anyways...which may turn out to be pretty close to forever ;)
I am having to get rid of A LOT of stuff...there's just no space for excess. It's kind of nice though because I hate clutter and in a small home there can be absolutely zero clutter or my OCD will take off on a rampage.
Ronnie put Mater in the driveway at the new home. IT IS OBNOXIOUS! Thankfully after seeing him there (and some wifely nagging from me he has decided to store him at a friend's house. THANK YOU LORD.
P.S. For those of you who do not know....THIS is Mater....and actually, in this picture you really cannot even tell how huge he is. I will try to get one for you of him at the new house. He sticks out into the sidewalk, is as tall as the roof and takes of 3/4 of the driveway's width.



On another note....Kyle, Hayleigh and Cody have been playing together amazingly well the past few days. I think they are really realizing that 24/7 together is about to end. Eddie and Nancy moved up their move in date--they are moving in to their new home TOMORROW!
I'm excited for them though. Eddie got Nancy a bunch of new furniture and that's always fun. Their kids are siked to be back in base housing, near Daddy and able to do their walks with the dogs, etc. Things that were normal before moving out here to Fernley.

Here's a SAD note...Unfortunately my sewing machine had to go to the new house yesterday--which means that I can't sew until at the very least Tuesday--and probably not then either. UGH.
Although you never know b/c I am going over to start unpacking and getting things in their place today! So...I just may have it all done by Tuesday. Do you ever feel like when you were younger you could just take on the world? I remember not too too long ago that a task as "little" as unpacking a household and putting things in their place would have been a challenge I would have gladly taken on, enjoyed and finished in a handful of hours. It would have been a matter of principle. I would not have stopped until I was done. Now though this task seems so daunting and I'm doubting I'll get it done between now and Tuesday! Seriously....what the heck?

Almost moving date!

Well, we're getting close. Tuesday we start moving items into our new home and next Tuesday is our first day living there. I really hate moving....have I mentioned that lately???? lol.

On a more positive note...there's snow on the mountains nearby and it is just gorgeous out during the day. I LOVE having seasons!!

I've completed several Christmas presents!!!! =) The mailing will have to wait until after we move, but that'll be OK. We are planning on decorating for Christmas right away once we get moved in. This will be the latest into December we've ever waited to decorate for Christmas!!

Tomorrow is the women's fellowship and book exchange at church. I'm really excited about this. We all bring a holiday dish, a Christian book we've read and love, and a new book mark. I made my bookmark to bring!!! It's so scrappy and I just love it...hopefully the mystery recipient will love it too!

Here is my 9 patch quilt along...I decided to make this into a table cloth! I am going to add the white border to each side as well but here's my progress so far:


Here is my weedwhacker quilt top--Remember this??? finally finished!!! Well the top is anyways =) All I need to do is baste, bind and quilt! Yay!!

I made this completely from my stash!!! I love how scrappy it is.

Also...I FINALLY finished MY quilt! This is the very first quilt I ever started working on and it's taken me 13 months to finish it! I've kept you all pretty updated as to its progress...I finished the top a while back but now I am REALLY done! It is washed and on my bed! This is actually the very first time I have ever slept under a quilt I made!!!!!! I LOVE the feeling!


I completed my 12 week quilt-along also! I did a lot of quilting on this one and I really enjoyed that!



I also finished my fleece rag-top quilt...I can't remember if I've posted this on here before or not...so...here it is!

Happy Thanksgiving! and other random ramblings

Hello all!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!
We have been packing here. Yes, again....the home we are renting was sold and we have opted to move out prior to our lease end date.
Ronnie, Kyle and I have chosen a home to rent for hopefully the next SEVERAL years.
It's a tiny little house in a neighborhood that's kind of down the mountain and across the street. I am thrilled that we will be staying in Fernley!

On another note...Christmas is a month away--CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???

I love the weather here in Nevada. I just absolutely LOVE it. The cool, crisp, dry air, the clear blue, cloudless sky, the WARM sun--the sun is SO warm here.

My best friend, Lisa is in South Carolina tonight! She was actually able to go to Detto's bootcamp to have Thanksgiving dinner with him tonight!!!! I am so happy for her and the kids.

Ronnie has taken a temp job at Amazon for the holidays. His foot is really bothering him though, so please say a prayer for him about that. He has also decided that next race season he is going to move up to the next class which is called Pro Stock. I still am unsure as to how I feel about this, but I support him completely.

Kyle is gearing up for the Christmas play at church. They only have a few more weeks of practice before the production. It's titled "Mayhem in Bethlehem". =)

Well, I'm off for the night.
