Fur on a bumblebee

Kyle and I had our eye exams on Monday. Mine was as it normally is. Kyle's however, was a little bit of a shock. The original reason I scheduled our exams was b/c Kyle described the board as being "blurry". I thought to myself... hmmm... and scheduled our eye exams right away.
Low and behold, Kyle is VERY near-sighted. He has to get glasses and wear them all the time...we even ordered prescription sun/sport glasses in addition to his regular ones. To give you an idea of what his vision is like....my prescription is -0.25 in both eyes. Kyle is a -1.50 in his right eye and a -3.50 in his left!!!! This is a strong prescription. They did dialate (sp) his eyes and thankfully health-wise his eyes are fine....he is just extremely near-sighted. My question was --how could I not have any prior indication that he had such a vision problem. They said he has never had anything to compare his vision to....so...to him, it was just the way things look.
He picked out his glasses and they should be in sometime in the next 10 days. I am hoping so desperately that they come in before Wednesday. Wednesday we are going to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa on a field trip.

So....the title of my blog is the fur on a bumblee b/c my child has probably never seen it, or the many other things in nature that Ronnie and I are constantly pointing out to him. A whole new world is going to open up right before his eyes when he REALLY sees for the first time clearly.

Love to all!

Monday, Monday.....

The first week of school was AWESOME! Having the schoolroom is absolutely WONDERFUL!! (You're right, Becca....it is SO helpful...no more school books and supplies ALL OVER the house. It's so much easier for Kyle to stay focused too. It really makes a HUGE difference!)
We are now starting week two and today I am introducing our Reading Program. Last week we just did some minor reading lessons....reading comp, that kind of thing...and Kyle did his fifteen mins of silent reading, of course. But today...!!! Bob Jones Reading 2.....I LOVE LOVE LOVE this curriculum. Kyle is super excited about it also. He's been wanting to start reading it since he saw the books come in the mail over summer...so the anticipation is a good thing b/c he WANTS to do it, lol.
Our first story is about a boy and some bugs...at the end of the week we will be going on a bug hunt. (This sounds kind of gross...but hey...all for education, lol) We'll be freezing the bugs so they die and then pinning them and learning all about them.
We had a great weekend. I made it through September 6th without tears this year. I CANNOT believe it has been 5 years....it does NOT seem possible. I kept busy and did not think about what day it was. I went down to my Mom's for a poker game (they too were keeping busy). Then my Dad and Ruth came over to hang out for a while. We had a really awesome time. Sunday we spent mostly on the boat. I'm on a big kick right now with doing photo collages....so I worked on those some also.

We had so much fun on the boat...Ronnie got the second carb cleaned out so it halls butt now. He was purposely hitting the waves in a way that they would spray up in mine and Kyle's face! I laughed so hard my stomach was hurting! Then when we were fishing....Ronnie let Kyle put the boat in drive....well....he pushed it too hard so it flung forward. I was sitting in a patio chair (those plastic chairs for your patio furniture, ya know?) fishing when this happened....I flipped over backward in my chair and my fishing pole went in the lake....GONE....lol. It looked like something from a cartoon....my legs flew up as I flew backwards. And...Linus got seasick! He didn't actually throw up or anything....I could just tell by the way he was acting. So we took him home, LOL. Needless to say, it was quite the eventful day! :) But fun!

all moved in and starting school!

We have finally gotten ourselves settled (for the most part) in our new home. We absolutely LOVE it here. We are hoping that there will be a way for us to buy this home. There is more space than we could ever need and with it being on a canal we are out fishing and boating almost everyday. Just little spurts...out to Lake Eustis for fifteen mons or so and then back home....but it's nice that it is not a bigg hassle to go out :)

Kyle and I started our school year today!! YAY!! I am so excited! Having a seperate schoolroom is AWESOME!

My chi thinks he's a golden! LOL

Yesterday we took Mattie (our Golden Retriever) and Linus (our chihuahua) to the lake. Of all things, Mattie was AFRAID of the water!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO! Ronnie got the biggest kick out of this, lol. She would hunch down real low and kinda go back and forth, then the water touched her paw and she took a flying leap backwards.
As many of you already know, Mattie LOVES to play ball. It is her absolute favorite thingin the world to do. So......Ronnie threw a ball in the lake. Well....du du du du (that was supposed to be all sing songy, lol) my long coat chihuahua runs into the lake....thinking he can just run and not realizing the ground was about to drop out from under him, lol...to get the ball. Well, he swam back and kept going in over and over and over. He loves to swim! Mattie eventually went in and then it seems instinct kicked in b/c she then acted like a normal golden retriever, lol.

We went fishing some out on our dock yesterday evening. There was a massively huge cottonmouth dead right by the pontoon boat. It looks like a boat propeller hit it. But dang, it's kinda scary that they are in the canal THAT big.

Nemo is gone. :((( Ronnie thinks he must have been bit by a snake or something. (How men get this great intelligence out of a million possibilities to think they know the ONE that happened, is beyond me, LMAO!) He has brought us snakes all the time since we've moved here and he has been bitten two or three times by a snake. I just cannot believe it though. It REALLY sucks.

Hello!

Hi all,
I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July :)
We went over to my Mom's and had lots of friends and family over.
It was a lot of fun.
Then yesterday we went over to the new house and did some yard work and Ronnie cleaned out his truck. He is thinking of bartering it for a dirtbike for me that he found. Whatever, lol. :) It's a trails dirtbike, so it would be ok for me, but we will see.
Then it was time for the 400....and that was a GOOD race.
Unfortunately "the punk" as I call him won.
Today we are heading to church and then just chillin' for the day.
Nemo is nowhere to be found and I am freaking out. I think something bad has happened b/c he is ALWAYS at the house. He is SO sweet and he was Kyle's first pet. He even flops over on his side on the sidewalk so strangers walking by can pet him, lol. I hope to God he comes home today, but it is SO out of character for him to be gone that I don't really feel confident that he will.
The only other thing I can think of is if someone picked him up to take him home b/c he IS so sweet. But Nemo is an escape artist, so if that did happen, he will be coming home soon.

OK, well, I am going to go pour my coffee and chill for the next hour.
Have a GREAT day!!!!!!!!!!
xoxo

today

Well, today was a nice day.
I went and layed out on the back deck for a couple of hours, then did some packing....I got my goal met for packing boxes today..yay!

My Mom and John came over tonight and had coffee. They are excited that we will only be 4 houses down from them once we move :) We are too.

Tomorrow I am thrifting for furniture with a neighbor down the road...I LOVE doing that, so it should be a fun time.

Hope everyone had a great Monday!
-Lisa

OK, so now it's been like 6 MONTHS since I've written!

Well,
It has been a LONG time since I've blogged....but, as time flies, it seems like it's only been a month.
I am focusing on journaling in many areas of my life, so I am going to start blogging again as sort of an online journal. Soooo many people told me how much they enjoyed keeping up on our lives by just bouncing over to the webpage.
So, I'll try to keep it up for more than a few weeks this time, LOL.

Well, summer is here and we are really enjoying it.
We went and spent a week at the beach staying in a beautiful timeshare. Lisa and her kids came up for a few days and Becca came up with Emily for a night as well. We REALLY enjoyed it. We saw manatees and even got to touch them, we saw a school of dolphins that had to have had like 40 dolphins in it, including babies :o)
We wentcrab hunting at night and caught some crabs, not to mention the relaxing days of being at the ocean or pool.
Ronnie had to work, but he came up for the weekend when we first arrived. So, he missed out on most of the fun but we are planning a vacation for sometime after we get settled into our new home, where he will take a week off of work and go also.

Crystals wedding is August 9th, and we had her bridal shower the Saturday after vacation. It's was a wonderful shower with lots of very good food and family & friends. The wedding is coming SO fast!!!

We are moving! For those of you who don't yet know....we have had a great blessing bestowed upon us and have the opportunity to live in a beautiful house on a canal...about 20 mins from where we live now. I am really excited as we will have a seperate school room and a guest bedroom there. Ronnie will have a workshop, so he is siked about that.
For his latest "kick" he is going to be building a racing lawnmower. (Yes, I know, oh so redneck, but you all know Ronnie, lol). He will really enjoy it and it should be lots of fun to go watch.

Kyle was blessed this month as well. He has really outgrown his 50cc dirtbike and we were looking at trading it for a bigger one.
Well, about 6 months ago this couple from church wanted to sell us their 80 cc semi-automatic Yamaha. It wasn't running, so they would sell it for $800. (It's a $2500 bike). We didn't have the money, so we passed and again listed his dirtbike for trade. We had a couple of offers from Craig's list that didn't work out and then last week the couple that had wanted to sell us their dirtbike called and said they were tired of it being in their barn and that if we wanted it we could come take it for free! They had actually put in in their trash pile the night before!!! So....we went and picked it up and Ronnie had it running 10 mins after we got home.
So, we are very thankful for that blessing and we gave Kyle's lil 50 to my Uncle Tom for his children.

We have started going to a new church...it's close by where we are moving to, and it is a very different type of church from what I am used to. I am used to an evangelistic type, energized, spirit filled church. This is a quiet, old-fashioned type of church, not evangelisitic at all...but oddly enough I really, really am enjoying it there. The people are so genuine and there are no distractions...it seems that everyone truly goes there to hear the word of God and fellowship. It has been like a breath of fresh air in this busy world of flash and rush. Both Ronnie and I feel a strong peace about making it our home church. We've only been a handful of times though, so please just lift us up in your prayers that we would receive confirmation if this is the right place for us.

Well, I am putting together my lesson plans for next year. It is going to be a fun filled exciting school year! We are starting a 3 year science curriculum which is ALL hands on and in the last segment of each lesson the child is a detective!! We are doing this with two other homeschooled children and it is going to be a blast!
We have lots of field trips on the school agenda this year and I have joined the largest homeschool group in central Fl!! (much more do-able now that we are moving 20 mins further east, as the group is based out of Apopka). They have a lego robotics course and some engineering type classes, plus LOTS AND LOTS of other things. We are not going to be participating in all of these activities because we have a very full year this year as it is, but it is nice to know they are there if we choose to!

Well, I hope I have brought you all up to date, lol.
Take care, God bless you, and I humbly ask that you would lift our lives up in your prayers. We need it, always.
Love,
The Scarberry's!
