Teaser Tuesday! May 29th

From "It Had to Be You" by Janice Thompson
(This is book #3 is the 'Weddings by Bella' series!)
This series is a laugh-out-loud, Christian romantic comedy!

"She began to reach for several pots and pans, making a tremendous amount of noise as she went. Relieving stress, no doubt. Getting some of her emotions out in the open. Beating them to death with a frying pan." (pg 134).

Here's how it works!

Canoeing the Dora Canal

Ronnie, Kyle & my Dad were supposed to be going on a canoeing/camping trip down the Econ. Unfortunately my Dad got sick and so they had to postpone their trip. So....Ronnie and Kyle went on a trip of their own! The canoed the Dora Canal for two days :)

On Saturday I took Alyssa out to breakfast!

And I got her a cappuccino!!
She was so worried that she would get in trouble for drinking this that she had me text her Mom and Dad and tell them I ordered it for her! LOL :) She's adorable!

After breakfast, I met up with Ronnie and Kyle so they could row me around to see the beautiful scenery!
They picked me up on the banks of the canal.
And they rowed me around for hours, like a queen! :)

see the gator?

this fish LITERALLY jumped into the canoe! It scared me and Kyle! lol  :0)

babies!

There were SO many neat trees, etc.

this was REALLY cool!

ducks!

this pic is a little blurry but we were cracking up at how this turtle was all sprawled out!

It was a wonderfully relaxing time in nature. I enjoyed it SO much!

On Sunday they also hit a lake (or pond, not sure which) and Kyle caught a fish! It was little but it made his day :)

FOR TODAY: Tuesday, May 28th, 2012

Outside my window...  It is raining off and on. We'll have hard rain, then a drizzle, then it's pouring again. I LOVE this kind of rainy day. I am enjoying it SO very much. We are receiving the outer bands of Tropical Depression Beryl.

I am thinking...  that I have SO much blogging to catch up on! I LOVE BLOGGING and have missed it while we were away.

I am thankful...  that God gave us traveling mercies. Twice on our trip we stopped to use the restroom, eat or get gas, only to get back on the highway and find a major wreck within 10-20 miles of where we got off. Thank you, Lord for your protection. And thank you to all my family and friends who were in continuous prayer for our time traveling.

In the kitchen...  ehh. Steak and hamburgers that were thawed out to grill went bad from us not being home. Oh well, such is life.

I am wearing...  stretchy, comfy clothes!

I am creating...  quilts & baby items

I am going...  to relax and enjoy my home. Humble though it may be, there's NO PLACE LIKE HOME.

I am wondering... how everything will play out this week. Lots of things up in the air.

I am reading... Just finished Swinging on a Star and am starting the third book in the Weddings by Bella series. "It Had To Be You". This series is a christian romantic comedy and it has me LITERALLY laughing out loud! Highly recommend if you are looking for a light, fun read :)

I am hoping...  that Patches will be OK at the vet Tues and Wed.

I am looking forward to...  this weekend when Lisa and I are taking a trip up to Ohio. We will be spending some time in Holmes County, in Amish Country, prior to picking up Ronnie's mom and moving her down here. So excited about that! And so thankful for my bestie!

I am learning... that you can not see someone that you truly, unconditionally love for 11 years and it seems like it was JUST YESTERDAY when you finally do.

Around the house... clearing out! After our experience this weekend we are getting things in order and getting rid of clutter!

I am pondering... how wonderful God is and how blessed I am. I love my life, the people in it, my family, my friends, my church family. I am SO very, very blessed.

A favorite quote for today...  "They gave their tomorrow, for our today"...in honor of Memorial Day

One of my favorite things... is this RAIN! Thank you, Lord for this wonderful, ongoing rain!

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Yikes. Get things ready for Mom to move down, get coverage at church, meeting with local funeral home to get our affairs in order, talk with attorney at church to get our will updated, Patches has appt to get de-clawed tomorrow, and who knows what else. That's all off the top of my head, I haven't even looked at my calendar!

 A peek into my day...

This & That

I have been covering the church office part of last week and a couple of days this week...so I have not had a chance to really blog. Now that I've gotten back into the swing of it, I can hardly stand to go a day without journaling my life. So...here is a little of this & a little of that from the past week and a half...
Last Wednesday:

Ronnie cuddling the bunny! So cute!! (I'm not really supposed to post this pic...hee hee)
We were SOOO worn out! I don't remember exactly what we did that day but we were hot and sweaty from working outside.
we finally burned up all that wood that's been sitting in the fire pit.
Jacob needed some lovins :)

I've decided to paint my cabinet faces. I want them red! I want the kitchen to be brown/black & red. (The counter tops are brown and black)

Ronnie thought I was completely crazy and he got the paint counter guy and the cabinet lady at Lowe's to try and talk me out of it. But I had a vision...and I knew what I wanted to do would look great. (I had wrapped the cabinet doors in red fabric to see if I liked it prior to buying the supplies)

I had to lightly sand off the finish, clean the wood with a degreaser, then paint!
Pretty simple, actually!

this is the color paint I chose.

TA DA! 2 done and a BUNCH more to go. :) Whatdya think?
Last Friday:

Friday I went and had lunch with my Mom & John! It's been a while since we have gotten together, so this was a real treat!
I went to take a picture and they both turned and looked at each other-at the same time! LOL
much better! :)
And of course, I HAD to get a pic of Mattie. I love her so much :) She is so spoiled there!!
Mom is all excited because she got new appliances and now has an ice and water dispenser on her fridge door! :)

Notice how Mattie had to be in both pics :)

Sunday, once we were all home from our various activities, we decided to chill in the yard.
Patches hanging out with me on the chair. She is so funny in her harness!
Ronnie lost a piece to the pond filtration system in the pond...so he decided to drain it to try and find it.
she just laid there content as can be...
Jimmy came and hung out for a bit.

I'm not sure why but I just thought this was so cute! Both of them holding onto the hose.
adorable! (btw, that litter box is not used as a litter box, but as a mini play area for the ducks).
 Out front is lookin' good!

except for this one.. :(( butterfly and bee attractant-bit the dust

Stephen came over and did some work for me! He tore out ALL of that wood, dirt, mulch and debris from around this tree!
Doesn't this look great!? It looks SO much better than that border thing it had around and built up it!

Inside the house:
This is my sewing room closet. Quilt tops to the left and right of clothes that I just HAD to get for my various nieces and nephews. There are clothes in there for Emily, Madi, Cody, Hayleigh, Aria & Alliyah! I know, I am addicted!

I surprised Ky by hanging Star Wars curtains in his room! He was SO excited!

****************LISA MONGIOVI: DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER ON THIS POST********

Those of you who know my dear 'ol bestie, you know this is necessary, lol.

This is what Ronnie and Kyle found when they were putting the canoe away Sunday afternoon!
yellow rat snake
He was so docile. They "played" with him for a bit before releasing back into the yard.

Thanks for reading about my life! Stay tuned for a post on the Canoe Adventure!
